Install the mobile app

Sandtime.io runs on a phone in three ways: the Android app, the iPhone app, or the website added to your home screen. All three sign in to the same account and show the same entries, so pick whichever is easiest to install.

Android

Install Sandtime.io from Google Play, then sign in.

iPhone and iPad

Install Sandtime.io from the App Store, then sign in.

Add the website to your home screen

You do not need a store app at all. Open sandtime.io in your phone's browser and add it to the home screen:

  • Chrome on Android: open the browser menu, then Add to Home screen.
  • Safari on iPhone or iPad: tap the share button, then Add to Home Screen.

It gets its own icon and opens in its own window, without the browser's address bar. Nothing is downloaded from a store, so this route works on any phone with an up-to-date browser. It does need a connection, and so do the store apps: all three show an offline screen rather than recording time without one.

When the store says the app is not available for your device

Store apps have a minimum operating system version, and phones stop receiving system updates years before they stop working. If Google Play or the App Store will not offer you the app, or the install button is missing, add the website to your home screen instead. You get the same features and the same data.

One account across devices

Signing in on a phone does not create anything separate. A timer started on a computer can be stopped on the phone, and entries logged on the phone appear in timesheets and reports everywhere else.

Recommendation

If your phone can install from a store, do that, because updates then arrive on their own. If it cannot, the home screen route is a complete alternative rather than a fallback, and it is worth using rather than waiting.
