What cost and revenue reporting gives you

Billable hours tracking

Mark projects and activities as billable to separate client work from internal overhead in every report.

Non-billable separation

Non-billable hours are tracked separately and always visible in reports alongside billable totals.

Cost rate per member

Assign a cost rate per member or project. Actual cost is calculated automatically from hours tracked times rate.

Revenue rate tracking

Assign revenue rates to track what clients are billed for the same hours worked - separate from cost.

Margin visibility

With both cost and revenue in the same report, project margin is always visible without any manual calculation.

Flexible filtering and export

Filter cost and revenue reports by project, team member, date range, or client. Export to Excel for finance.

Who uses cost and revenue reporting

  • Agencies tracking profitability per client engagement
  • Consultancies comparing billed revenue to internal labor cost
  • Finance teams reviewing which projects are over or under budget
  • Managers identifying which teams or projects are the most cost-efficient

Cost and revenue questions

What is the difference between cost and revenue rates?

A cost rate is what an hour costs you; a revenue rate is what it is billed for. Reporting both is what turns hours into a margin rather than a total.

How is project margin calculated?

Hours times the cost rate gives labor cost, and hours times the revenue rate gives revenue. The difference is the margin for that project or period.

Do past reports change when a rate changes?

No. Rates carry the period they applied to, so a rate change from this month does not restate last quarter’s margin.

Who can see cost and revenue figures?

Rate and margin visibility belongs to administrator roles rather than every member, since it exposes what people cost as well as what work sells for.
