Create a project for reported time

Projects are the main buckets that activities belong to in Sandtime.io. A clear project list makes reports, billing, and timesheets much easier to manage.

Create the project

Open Projects and click Create new project. A new Untitled project appears, and from there you can set its name, add an image, write a note, and assign members and their roles.

Before creating the project

Decide:

  • whether the project is billable,
  • who should be assigned to it,
  • whether the name should reflect a client, internal area, or a delivery stream.

Keep naming consistent

Simple, stable names help avoid duplicate reporting buckets and make exports easier to read later.

Examples:

  • Client A
  • Internal Admin
  • Support
  • PTO

Tip

If several recurring activities should stay under the same project, keep the project broad and use the activity field for the more specific description.

Archived projects

Time reported to an archived project does not appear in a report unless you turn on Show archived in the report’s filters. See Create and customize reports.
