Goal
A goal in Sandtime.io is a time target that tells you how many hours you are expected to log in a given period. Goals are calculated automatically from your core hours setting - the work start and end times you configure in Settings. You do not enter a goal number directly.
Goals appear as progress bars on the dashboard: a bar fills as you log time, turning green when you reach the target.
The Three Goal Types
Sandtime.io tracks three time horizons from the same core hours setting:
- Daily goal - the span between your configured work start and end time. If you work 09:00 to 17:00, the daily goal is 8 hours.
- Weekly goal - the daily goal multiplied by 5 working days. An 8-hour day produces a 40-hour weekly goal.
- Monthly goal - the daily goal multiplied by the number of working days in the current calendar month.
All three update instantly when you change your core hours. There is no separate setting for each.
Quarterly Goals
Sandtime.io does not have a built-in quarterly goal. To estimate a quarterly target, multiply your monthly goal by 3. You can pull the data from custom reports filtered by date range.
How to Change a Goal
Go to Settings > Time tracking > Core hours and adjust your work start and end times. The daily, weekly, and monthly goals all recalculate at once.
See How to set your weekly goal for step-by-step instructions.
Undertime and Overtime
When you log fewer hours than the goal, the unfilled portion of the bar represents undertime. When you log more than the goal, the extra hours are overtime. Both show on the dashboard - overtime pushes the bar past 100%.
