Connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants
You can connect an AI assistant to Sandtime.io by signing in from the assistant. There is no API key to create or paste: you add the Sandtime.io MCP server to the assistant, sign in to Sandtime.io in your browser and allow access. From then on you can ask the assistant to track time, fill in your timesheet or report on your hours in plain language.
Find the server address
Go to Settings > Integrations > MCP. Under Connect your AI assistant, the Connect in a few clicks section shows the server address with a Copy the server URL button:
https://mcp.sandtime.io/mcp
The MCP server page shows the same address and the steps for every client.
Connect your assistant
Claude (web and desktop)
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
- Paste the server address and add the connector.
- Sign in to Sandtime.io in the browser window that opens and allow access.
On Claude Team or Enterprise plans, an owner enables the connector in the organization settings first. In the Claude desktop app, add the same remote connector in the same way; there is no config file to edit.
ChatGPT (web and desktop)
- In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode, then open Connectors and add a custom connector.
- Paste the server address, then sign in to Sandtime.io and allow access.
ChatGPT connectors belong to your account, so the desktop app picks up the same connector. Enable Sandtime.io in a chat, and sign in again if it asks.
Claude Code
Run these two commands in your terminal. The second one opens your browser so you can allow access:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user sandtime https://mcp.sandtime.io/mcp
claude mcp login sandtime
Other clients
Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and any other client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP can connect the same way where they support signing in. The Codex CLI does not finish the browser sign-in yet, so it still needs an API key: see Create and manage API keys and MCP tokens.
Allow access
When you sign in, Sandtime.io shows an Authorize access to Sandtime.io page before anything is connected. It names the application asking for access and the address you will be sent back to, and reminds you that the application is not operated by Sandtime.io, so only continue if you trust it.
Choose the Organization the assistant should work in and click Allow, or Cancel to stop. The assistant acts as you in that organization, with your role, and only through the MCP server. If you belong to several organizations, connect once for each one you want it to use.
See and disconnect connected assistants
Every assistant you allow appears in Settings > Integrations > API with an AI assistant badge, under the name the client registered. To disconnect one, click Revoke on its row and confirm with Disconnect. It loses access right away, and to use it again you connect it from scratch.
Revoke all and Sign out also disconnect every assistant you connected. An assistant stays connected for up to a year; after that it asks you to sign in again.
What if the connection does not work?
- "Your account does not belong to an active organization yet": create an organization in Sandtime.io, or ask an administrator to activate yours, then connect again.
- An error page instead of the consent screen: the assistant sent a request Sandtime.io does not accept. Update the assistant, remove the connector and add it again.
- The assistant cannot see any data: check that you chose the right organization when you allowed access. Disconnect it and connect again to pick another.
