Working Day (Business Day)
A working day, or business day, is a day people are normally expected to work - typically Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays. It is the unit behind deadlines, leave, and delivery estimates.
How it is counted
- Start from all calendar days in a range.
- Remove weekends (usually Saturday and Sunday).
- Subtract public holidays that fall on a weekday.
The result is the working days available for planning.
Why it matters
Deadlines and leave are usually expressed in working days, so an accurate count avoids over-promising.
