Statutory working time
Under the Federal Labour Law (Ley Federal del Trabajo, Art. 61), the ordinary working day is a maximum of 8 hours. Standard weekly hours are 48 (day shift), 45 (mixed shift), or 42 (night shift). Workers are entitled to at least one full day of rest per week.
Overtime
The standard day shift is 8 hours. Overtime is paid at double the hourly rate for the first nine hours in a week and triple beyond that.
Rest periods
At least one full rest day per week and a break during the working day.
Record-keeping
Employers keep records of hours worked and wages.
