The Danish calendar includes ten public holidays and excludes Constitution Day, 1 May, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as universal holidays. Those extra days can be free under a contract or agreement. Great Prayer Day is not included. Public-holiday time off depends on employment terms, and retail closure rules do not determine every employee’s schedule.

How do these holidays affect a working calendar?
The 2026 dates shown here include 7 Monday-to-Friday holidays, 1 Saturday dates and 2 Sunday dates. A Monday-to-Friday calendar subtracts the included weekday dates once. Whether weekend holidays create a substitute day or reduce statutory hours depends on the country, region, employer and working schedule.
