Roles and permissions

Sandtime.io roles keep everyday work clear without turning the product into a heavy administration tool. See also access control in the glossary.

What to decide early

  • Who should manage organization settings.
  • Who should create or archive projects.
  • Who should review and approve timesheets.
  • Who only needs to report time and see personal data.

Typical split

  • Members report time, review their own timesheets, and use day-to-day tracking.
  • Managers or administrators oversee projects, members, and reporting.
  • Administrators also handle organization-level settings, billing, and more sensitive controls.

Keep it simple

Give the smallest role that still allows someone to do the job. That keeps reports cleaner and reduces accidental changes in settings or project structure.
